Middle-aged Strasbourg.

On the "Covered Bridges" ("les Ponts-couverts"), so called in memory of what they look like in the middle-age (like in Lucern, Switzerland) when they were part of the town's defense system.

 

And the buildings of the "St-John in the green isle",(commanderie St-Jean en l'île verte) former commandery of the  Hospital chivaliers, then a women prison till the second half of the XXieth century and now the ENA school... In the foreground the VAUBAN dam a very clever defense work from the great military engineer Sébastien LEPRETRE de VAUBAN in the Louis XIV era.
